Once a month, WDTV and Antero Resources award a community member for contributing their extra time and effort to make a difference in the North Central West Virginia area counties. We spoke with Alan Dye, Creative Services Director from WDTV and Stephanie Iaquinta, WDTV’s sponsor representative from Antero Resources, to reflect on the Jefferson Awards program. Antero Resources is one of the largest U.S. natural gas suppliers and are active in service work. 40 individuals were honored at WDTV’s end-of-year Jefferson Awards dinner, the 2nd Annual Jefferson Awards dinner that honors people making a difference in the community.
“It was him kicking and screaming to do it. I had to really put all press on him to convince him to accept this award– he was so extremely humble. They [Jefferson Award recipients] don't go seeking recognition ever. I thank these folks for allowing me to come into their homes and to their places of business to meet them and to tell their story, which needs to be told. It’s critical, really.” – Alan Dye, WDTV Creative Services Director
“I tell you what, to get all those folks together who have won the award over the past year and then have them share their stories of one another and just come learn what each other do was so inspiring. Different walks of life, different communities in West Virginia, and just doing good things, you know, lifting people up, and that's what is so great about the Jefferson Awards, is that we do get to tell those stories of people doing good in the community” – Alan
“It’s something we look forward to every month. We’re proud of our partnership, to be able to tell the story and to get to know these people” – Stephanie
