About the Jefferson Awards

Over the past five decades, the list of Jefferson Award recipients is unparalleled. They include hundreds of national figures — both public and private —more than 65,000 unsung heroes, and tens of thousands of employees and young people in communities across the country. These individuals represent the good that is happening all around us, in every community across the nation. It is our mission to elevate them and exponentially increase their acts of service.

History

1972: Multiplying Good founded by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Senator Robert Taft Jr., and Sam Beard.
1973: First national Jefferson Award Ceremony held In Washington D.C.
1977: First grassroots heroes celebrated with Jefferson Awards on local TV, radio, and newspapers.
2007: Multiplying Good begins recognizing outstanding service in the workplace.
2007: Students in Action program is launched in chapters across the country.
2018: First class of local community leaders celebrated with Jefferson Awards.
2022: Multiplying Good celebrates 50th Anniversary.
