While only in second grade, Lauren founded the Page by Page Book Drive Program at her elementary school to ensure that all children had books they could keep in their homes.
Page By Page is now a youth-run organization with adult supervision, serving the USA through service projects. They unite students, including those seeking community service hours and Boy/Girl Scouts, and organize Page by Page Book Drives. These young advocates also partner with organizations to provide literacy programs and donate thousands of books to empower underserved children to read. Throughout the pandemic, Page by Page curated and distributed custom book boxes containing 35,000 books to multiple locations, including Covid-19 testing sites, the front doors of homes in Miami-Dade County, schools, organizations, and libraries, for children in quarantine. And when Hurricane Ian affected so many families, Page by Page formed a valuable partnership with the Salvation Army, to deliver truckloads of books to the west coast of Florida. Their commitment to community education goes above and beyond even during the Parkland, Florida high school tragedy, when they offered their support by donating books to teachers and families.
Lauren is still actively promoting literacy and education. She speaks at elementary and middle schools about the importance of literacy in the community, creates educational videos on YouTube, collaborates with organizations like Oxford University and APL Logistics, and donates thousands of books. Her work has been featured in newspapers, on NBC, through Disney, Congressional representatives, and got her nominated for a National Jefferson Award in 2021.
Today, homeless shelters, disaster-affected areas, schools, the Salvation Army, and numerous charities benefit from Page by Page Book Drives operating worldwide. Page by Page has donated 511,423 books to over 3.65 million children in the past 10 years and continues to create a passion for reading and improve access to books.
