“Service is the rent we pay for being. It is the very purpose of life, and not something you do in your spare time.” - Marian Wright Edelman

On this Speak Up for Service Day, we at Multiplying Good encourage you to remember this timeless truth. We were put on this Earth to give of ourselves and doing so results in a meaningful and purposeful life. No matter where you come from, what you look like, or how you identify, service is for YOU. It can give hope when all seems lost, bring happiness when sadness is near, and change individuals/communities in the simplest, but most powerful ways.

How do we know?

All across the country, our Student In Action leaders are going the extra mile to serve. From NYC to Chicago to Los Angeles and beyond, young people are making a difference in themselves, their schools, and the places they call home. They’re staging anti-racist protests, fighting unjust school policies, feeding the hungry, educating the uninformed, and more. Not just because it looks good but because it feels good.

So why service? Because it is what we are meant to do. Service is boundless. It is timeless. It is necessary.
